Racing for a Cause was set up by Sharon and Michael Blake to provide an affordable horse racing club combined with supporting charitable causes.
A friendly, fun syndicate that raises funds for charities through winnings and fundraising events.
The club has enjoyed a lot of success since its conception with our first two horses Bounty Pursuit and Freedom and Wheat. Both these horses have now retired and we now have Clearance who runs on both the flat and over hurdles.
Clearance
The purpose of Racing for a Cause was to raise some money for various charities through our winnings and fundraising events. We have successfully supported with over £13,5000: St. Peters Hospice, Dorothy House Hospice, Julia’s House Hospice for children, Bath RUHX (formerly Forever Friends appeal), Injured Jockeys fund and Carmela’s Fight to stay mobile. We have also sent emergency funds to the Syria Earthquake appeal.
NO BALLOTS FOR TICKETS: Ensuring all our club members enjoy being part of Racing for a Cause is imperative to Sharon & Michael, so there has not been, so far, a time where we haven’t been able to get Owners tickets.
Owners enjoy all the hospitality perks at the racecourse including entry to the parade ring to meet the jockey and see the horse walk around – also coming back into the winner’s enclosure!!
We welcome all our club members to the stables when they wish to visit, but we also hold open mornings where members can see the horses working on the gallops.
It’s a very friendly club and we have enjoyed quiz evenings, auctions, race nights & prosecco & canapes in the farm garden at Staverton with live music.
We also have Racing for a Cause branded clothing.
All this for £50 per month, per member – what’s not to love!!

The cost per member is £50 per month. There are no upfront purchase costs. Payment is by standing order and we just ask for 2 months notice should you wish to discontinue your membership.
